The purpose of this research was to determined the relationship between status of initial seed physiologic quality in labotarium and quality of the seeds after planting in the field on several varieties of red pepper (Capsium annuum L.) The experiment was conducted in three places, 1) Leuwikopo Labotarium of Seed Science and Technology, 2) Dermaga Labotarium of Seed Technology and 3) IPB’s Garden at Leuwikopo. The study was conducted in December 2003 to August 2004, pepper seeds used were four varieties; Jati laba, Tit Super LV, and Hot Peper Tornado. The results of this study is the level of initial seed vigor effect on final seed vigor levels. Quality Status of the initial physiological seeds in labotarium give different results on the tested varieties. In percent germination benchmark testing shows the results was significant to some varieties. Dry weight of normal germination of each variety showed significantly different results at each harvest. Electrical conductivity Jatilaba crop varieties to show significantly different. The growth rate of sprouts showed significantly different results at each harvest. Testing showed the water content of seeds is not significant. The best harvest in each crop varieties was on the first, second, and third.en
