dc.description.abstractThe objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of escape vent on the catch diversity of pot operated by local fishermen, in Subang. The fishing experiment was carried out from May to June. The fishing experiment used pot with various shape of escape vent i.e.square, circle, Ship Same Side Corner Rectangle (S3CR) and pot without escape vent as control. The result of experiment indicated that catch of pot was dominated by mud crab (Scylla sp) which constituted 36% of total catch. Pot with circle escape vent caught 6 species, followed by S3CR escape vent caught 5 species and square escape vent caught 4 species. The smallest value of Shannon Wiener Index which indicated catch diversity obtained by square escape vent pot while the highest value of Shannon Wiener Index was obtained by pot without escape vent . The Shannon Wiener Index value of square escape vent pot was 1.0089 while Shannon Wiener Index value of non escape vent pot was 1.3869.en
