Pengujian Toleransi Padi (Oryza Sativa L.) Terhadap Salinitas Pada Fase Perkecambahan
Abstract
The objective of the research was to find out a simple, quick, and inexpensive method for testing salt tolerance of rice genotypes at germination phase. Experiments were conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology, Bogor Agricultural University, and in a green house at Experimental Station Muara, Bogor from June 2010 until February 2011. A total of 40 rice genotypes were used in the experiments. The standard method for testing salinity tolerance was applied in the green house where two week old seedling were transplanted to soil medium salinized with 4 000 ppm NaCl for 8 weeks. Dead leaf percentage variable could differentiate 7 tolerant rice genotypes, 19 moderately tolerant, 14 moderately susceptible, and 4 susceptible. Lalan was the most tolerant rice genotype with the lowest dead leaf percentage (30.03%), perfomed followed by B11844-MR-23-4-6, B13133-9-MR-3-KY-2 and B13136-3-MR-1-KY-5. Germinating seed on stensil paper in UKDdp method with 8 000 ppm NaCl for 14 days was the best method for differentiating the tolerant varieties from the susceptible at the laboratory condition. However, The correlation coefficient value between salinity tolerance variable in the laboratory and in the greenhouse is low -0.12608.
