      Abstract
Adsorption of free fatty acid (FFA) from used frying oil was studied, using agricultural solid waste based adsorbent and clay mineral, in this case sago solid waste and kaolin. Acid treatment were carried out for both adsorbents to improve their adsorptivities. Sago solid waste was also studied as an alternative carbon source to produce activated carbon. Commercial activated carbon from coal was used as standard for comparison. The result showed that activated carbon from sago solid waste was potential FFA adsorbent. Its adsorption capacity an adsorption efficiency were 135.85 mg/g and 75.07%, respectively, and the optimum condition was 0.5 g adsorbent with adsorption time of 60 minutes. Activated carbon from sago solid waste adsorption was fit with Freundlich isotherm.
