Cacing parasitik pada unta punuk satu (Camelus dromedarius) di Taman Rekreasi Margasatwa Serulingmas Banjarnegara Jawa Tengah
Abstract
The objective of the study is to reveal the existance of parasitic worm of one humped camel (Camelus dromedarius) in Serulingmas Zoological Garden. The fresh fecal samples were taken from the male and female camel, every week for six weeks. The samples were observed qualitatively and quantitatively to reveal the existance of parasitic worm eggs. The result of the study showed that the infection occured only in the female camel, but none in the male camel one. The type of worm eggs was identified as nematode parasitic, of the genus Trichuris with characteristic of oval in shape, polar plug in each side, thick walled, sized around 71-77,6 μm and 30,8-37,9 μm in length and width respectively. The average number of EPG (eggs in each gram of feces) was 333. Some factors which might be able to affect the worm infections in case of one humped camel are were feed, environment, and the susceptibility of the camel itself. The study proves that the female camel is more susceptible to worm infections than those the male one.
