The effect of maturing systems (single vs groups) of ovine oocytes was silldied to examine the oocyte development in vitro. Oocytes were aspirated from follicle ovaries collected at local abattoirs Cibinong West Java, using a 18-G needle. Aspiration medium consisted of HI99 + 2 % FCS + 50 pg/ml Heparin and the maturating medium (IVM) consisted of B 199 - 10 90 FCS + 10 lg/ml FSH + 10 Cig/~nhlC G + 1 Llg/ml Estradiol. The oocytes collected were divided into three pro~~pasnd treated separately as follows: TI) oocytes were (natured singly in 50 IVM medium. T2) every five oocytes was matured in'5O IVM 1nedi111na nd T3) every 10 oocytes was matul-cd in 50 IVM medium. AIi oocytes were maintained in incubator with 5 % CO, and high humidity at 38 "C for 20 11. The resulting ova were stained in 1 % lacmoid then rsalnincd for meiosis division under a ~nicroscopeT. here was a significant effect among treatments on the proportion oocytes reaching metaphase I 1 (P<0.05). The oocytes nlatured singly showed a lower proportion of the metaphase I1 compared to those mat~~reind groups. Oocytes cultured singly tended to arrest in the metaphase I and anaphase I. Oocytes matured in groups (5 to 10 oocytes per 50 p1 IVM drop) resulted a higher proportion in achieving the metaphase 11 stage compared tq those matured singly.en
