dc.description.abstractBioremediatlon is the use of microorganism to remove or detoxify toxic or unwanted chemicals in an environ ment. Among those chemicals are hydrocarbon such as toluene. Environment pollution by substances such as toluene will destroy the environment and resulting reduction of the biodiversity of organisms. Some species of microorgan. isms which capable to adapt and degrading toxic substance will exist. However, to optimise bioremediation nutrient addition such as N and introducing degrader microbes are necessary. This study tried to solved the problem by urea addition in 0.25% w/v concentration and introducing promising local bacilli isolates namely UK41 and UX44 respec. tively as well as their mixture. The parameters measured was toluene, COD, BOD, pH, microbial number, DO and CO2. The best result was revealed from introduction of mixture of U41 and U44. It means that local isolates of bacilli U41 and U44 are prospective to be used as soil bioremedlation agent for hydrocarbon contaminated soil.en
