The aim of the study was t o know the e f f e c t of water stress measured by levels of available s o i l water content, soybean variety, and the influence t o growth and production of soybek. Three soybean v a r i e t i e s were used i n t h i s experiment i.e. Americana, Galunggung, and Kepet. The levels of water content as treatment were 75, 50, and 25 percent of available water. Factorial with completely randomized experimental design was applied. The experiment was conducted in a p l a s t i c house. Water s t r e s s decreased growth and production of soybean. Production decreased 13 and 50 percent per plant for Kepet with 50 and 25 percent water s t r e s s available compared with production with 75 percent w a t e r stress available. The decrease was r e l a t i v e l y smaller for Americana than f o r Kepet and Galunggung i.e. 31 and 54 percent. But on that water stress Americana production (4.543 g per plant and 3.016 g per plant) were higher than Galunggung (2.914 g per plant and 1.917 g per plant) or Kepet (3.123 g per plant and 1.810 g per plant).id
