Abstract

SEED PROGRAM FOR PALAWIJA DEVELOPMENT. The development of paJawija crops in either lowland or upland areas require large quantities high quality seed. Seed ProcuFement become an obvious problem dna the development program would cover the increase of millions of hectares. . A system of ihtkrfield seedflow which in smale scale ib functioning to suply the palawija farmers without long periods of storage, hm prospects for larwr systems within the palawiia development program. However, such a Jystem requires a more complicated organization in seed procurement and business. Nevertheless, technically it seems to be inexpensive. In the seed program for palawija development, the interfield seedflow should be more closely monitored. Some intensive research in seed vigor among patawija crops such as corn, sorghum, soybean and peanut should be done. Soma prdiminary studiea in seed viga against drought and their norability showed good prmpects. These vigor testingo were derived from laboratory method; and to make it applicable in practice, the method is still to be developed. In addition to the establishment of the interfield seedflow system the vigor test application wwld strenethen the role of seed in the development of palawiia crops.
