Analysis of Production and Factor Determining the Adoption of Sawit Dupa Cropping Pattern on Farming at the Tidal Swamp Land of South Kalimantan

Among the food crops, rice is an important commodity for Indonesian from politic, economy, and social view points. Agronomically, farmers practice the so called sawit dupa technology in tidal swamp land rice field of South Kalimantan. Many factors, however, are associated with low productivity of sawit dupa technology. The present research revealed that it was significantly influenced by land and fertilizer with their elasticity values of 07966 and 01268, respectively. The adoption process of sawit dupa technology was influenced by capital cost, number of family member, farmer education level, income gained from rice, rice field area, risk gained by high yielding variety used, and distance from rice field to farmer resident. According to farmer perception, the supporting factors for the adoption of sawit dupa technology were the production and income gained from high yielding variety used, conformity to the present land potency, availability of capital through credit system, availability of agricultural workers, availability of technology, and existence of support from government.
