Thirty eight effectively slow-growing soybean bradyrhizobia strailrs isolated from Kabupaten Majalengka were reacted to 14 antisera developed from strains of the same area but had higher levels of symbiotic effectiveness. Those strain agglutination reactions with three antiserum concentration levels: 1:25, 150, and 1:100, showed six reaction types and eleven serogroups with high antiserum frequencies. However, those serogroups did not show a specific symbiotic &ediveness ratio. The bacteroid nitrogenase activities of those strains having higher symbiotic effectiveness than N control, were measured by using gas chromatography. Forty percent of those strains showed Acethylene Reduction Activitities (ARA) total higher than that of USDA 110 strain. ARA total as well as specific ARA of those strains showed positive cordation with their symbiotic effectiveness. H evolution measured by gas chromatography of those strains showed less than that of USDA I f 0 strain.id
