Interaction between mycelia of Lentinus edodes (shiitake) and T. haniaaum was studied in vifro under their optimum temperatures and at optimum pH for shiitake mycelial growth. Trichodema hanianum was isolated from both substrates for spawning and cultivation of shiitake. Preliminary study on mycelial growth rates of both fungi indicated that the optimum temperatures for shiitake and T. harzianum are 25°C and 30°C, respectively. Whilst the optimum pH for shiitake mycelial growth is five. Two types of interactions were observed, that is overgrowing of the colony of T. hanianum on that of shiitake with intermingled mycelia, followed by growth inhibition of the f i s t fungus to the latter, and lysis of the latter. Growth inhibition at 30°C is 8-12% greater than that at 25°C and lysis was shown three hours faster with broader lytic area at 30°C comparing with those at 25°C.id
