Orange-flesh sweet potato, that contains carotene and protein, is potentially useful for baby food and another food products. Sweet potato breeding program, to recombine several sweet potato clones in order to yield clwes with Mgher carotene and protein, could be performed through artificial hybridizath. Sterilities, crou-incompa~ibilitiya s well as environmental conditions affected the success of seeds set percentage in sweet potato crosses. The objective of this study is to evaluate cross-compatibilities among some orange-flesh sweet potato clones, and to analyse the tuber quality of the progenies. Orange-flesh colour sweet potato clones used as the parents were: h a g , G-02, B088, W-47, B-071, Ciceh-32, G22, S026, S-138, B-103, Penet, B063, Ell, G-09, and Pmmbman. Artificial crosses among clones were conducted in the green house. Hybrid seeds were sown, and after one month the seedlings were planted in the field. Tuber qualities were observed from singk plant of each hybrid progeny. Flower initirtim ranged from 64-120 days after planting. Penet was the earliest flowering, and B-071 was the latest. Ciceh-32 have the longest flowering periods and the highest number of flower production. B-071 and Penet have the shortest flowering periods and the lowest flower production. Fnrm 102 cross combinations which were performed, 38 produced capsule with 617 seeds. However, only 454 progenies were able to be planted in the field and 304 of them produced tuber. Tuber weight ranged from 10-740 grams. Ciceh-32 and Joang produced more tubering progenies than the other clones if they were used as female parents. The main flesh tuber colour of the hybrids were yellow (58%). followed by orange (32%) and white (lO9!0). Camtene contents of orange-flesh tuber were 1.3-11.7 mg/lOO g (fresh weight basis), while their protein contents were 0.7-2.6.10. No Correlation between carotene and protein content of tubers.id
