Patologi Trichomoniosis Pada Burung Merpati (Culumba Liviu) Di Peternakan Cianjur Jawa Barat

Abstract

Incidence of trichomoniosis was observed in a pigeon farm located in Cianjur, West Java. The diagnosis of the pigeon trichomoniosis was carried out based on the observation of the clinical symptoms, pathological and parasitological examinations. The major pathological changes observed in the infected birds were white-yellowish nodules in the oraI cavity, sinuses, pharynx, oesophagus, crop and proventriculus. Trichomonus spp, was detected in the smear preparations of the oral cavity of infected birds. The mortality rate in the young bird (between 4 to 26 days old) was 3 5 5 %. It was observed that the body weight of the infected birds was significantly lower ( 1 17 grams) than that of the healthy ones (P < 0.05). Key words: pigeon, pathology, ttrchomoniosis
