A study on the production of Y immunoglobulin (IgY) specific to tetanus toxin was carried in the yolk of chicken eggs. Five 20 week-old hens of commercial layers were injected seven times intrapentoneally with various concentration {15,100,200,a nd 300 If) of tetanus toxoid at one week interval. One week following the immunization, the antibody against tetanus toxoid were examined by irnmunodiffusion technique. Antibody specific to temw toxoid was detected in serum one week aRer the last vaccination. In egg yolk, antibody specific to tetanus toxoid was detected two week aRer the last injection. The antibody in serum and in the yolk was also examined by ELISA. There was a close relation between the mean titer of antibdy specific to tetanus toxoid detected in serum (12.568 & 5,537 IU ) and that detected in yolk (32,289 k 13,220 IU). In conclusion, chicken egg yolk is a potentid mean for the production of anti-tetanus serum in the future. Key Wards : Immunoglobulin Y IIgY), Tetanus Taxoid, Immunodiffision, ELISA.
