      Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of environmental factors on the behavior and impacts of Sphex argentatus at the Sentul Highland Golf Club. S. argentatus is known to cause damage in the form of holes and soil mounds in several areas of the golf course, which affect golf gameplay. The behavior of S. argentatus was observed by examining its interactions with the environment and assessing its impact on the ecosystem. The study was conducted using an observational method over a 60-day period at sites determined through a preliminary field survey. Data collected included excavation activity, hunting behavior, interactions with surrounding vegetation, and the influence of environmental ecosystem factors on S. argentatus. The results showed that Sphex argentatus preferred green areas with sandy soil for nesting, supported by surrounding vegetation that provides its primary prey, grasshoppers from the family Tettigoniidae. Excavation activity caused significant deterioration in golf course quality and required intensive maintenance. Vegetation management, the use of environmentally friendly insecticides, and soil compaction are recommended to reduce the resulting damage.
