      Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of palm frond and jack bean forages (Canavalia ensiformis) mixtures on nutrient content and silage fermentation quality. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) 3x2 with 5 replicates, factor A in the form of jack bean forages (0%, 25%, and 50%) and factor B in the form of glucose (0% and 5%). The measured variables included, nutrient content, crude fiber fraction, and fermentation quality of silage. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and further tested using Duncan's method. The results showed an interaction (P<0.05) of each factor on the parameters of crude protein (CP) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) were highest, and N-NH3 was lowest in the treatment of 50% jack bean fotrages with and without glucose addition. Silage with 50% palm fronds and 50% jack bean forages produced silage with the best nutrient content and fermentation quality.
