      Isolasi dan Karakterisasi Lignin dari Lindi Hitam Pabrik Pulp

      Abstract
      Lignin yang berasal dari lindi hitam pabrik pulp dapat diproses lebih lanjut untuk menghasilkan berbagai jenis produk bernilai tambah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari karakteristik lignin dari lindi hitam sehingga dapat diketahui pemanfaatannya secara tepat. Lignin diisolasi dari lindi hitam dengan cara presipitasi asam satu dan dua tahap. Rendemen lignin yang diperoleh melalui isolasi satu tahap (35,39%) lebih tinggi dibandingkan isolasi dua tahap (16,35%). Kadar air dan kadar abu lignin satu tahap lebih rendah dibandingkan dua tahap. Perlakuan pencucian sebanyak enam kali pada isolasi lignin satu tahap dapat meningkatkan kemurnian isolat lignin yang diperoleh. Hasil analisis UV menunjukkan bahwa pada medium netral (dioksan-air) kedua isolat lignin memiliki absorbansi kuat pada 240 nm, sedangkan pada medium basa (NaOH pH 12) terdapat serapan kuat pada 210 nm. Spektra FTIR menunjukkan bahwa kedua isolat lignin memiliki gugus fungsi yang serupa. Analisis pyGCMS menunjukkan nilai S/G rasio proses isolasi lignin satu tahap lebih besar daripada dua tahap. Isolat lignin satu tahap memiliki stabilitas termal yang lebih tinggi dibanding isolat lignin dua tahap.
       
      Lignin derived from black liquor pulp industry can be further processed for producing different kinds of value added products. The aim of this research was to study the characteristics of lignin from black liquor so that the appropriate utilization can be found. Lignin was isolated from the black liquor by single step and two steps acid precipitation. The yield of lignin obtained through one step isolation (35.39%) was much higher than two step isolation (16.35%). The moisture content and ash content of one step lignin was lower than two step isolation. Washing treatment six times in one step isolation can increase the purity of lignin isolates. Results of UV analysis show that in neutral medium (dioxane-water) the two lignin isolates had strong absorbance at 240 nm, while in alkaline medium (NaOH pH 12) the strong absorption at 210 nm. The FTIR spectra showed that the two lignin isolates had similar functional groups. The pyGMCS analysis showed that the S/G ratio isolation process of lignin one step was higher than two step. One step lignin isolates had higher thermal stability than two step lignin isolates.
