      Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate nutrient adequacy and validate estimation equations used in determining the energy and protein requirements of Priangan sheep based on the local sheep meta-analytic approach by Jayanegara et al. (2017). The evaluation and validation were conducted by comparing average daily gain, dry matter intake, crude protein, and total digestible nutrient intake data from 124 Priangan sheep raised in smallholder farms with the estimated values. Validation tests were performed using linear regression, Pearson correlation, paired t-test, CCC, and RMSPE. The evaluation results showed that the intake of DM, CP, and TDN in several farms was still below the estimated requirements. The validation results indicated that the CPI-based estimation did not show a significant mean bias (0.634), explained 25.79% of the variation, moderate correlation (0.508), better accuracy (0.346), and a lower standard deviation (78.41%) compared to DMI and TDN based estimations. However, all estimation equations showed low CCC values, indicating that the level of agreement remains inadequate.
