Soil contamination caused by heavy metals can harm humans by accumulating heavy metals absorbed by other living organisms, such as plants. One method that can be used to remediate heavy metal-contaminated soil is electrochemistry. The study aims to design and predict the performance of an electrochemical prototype in remediating soil contaminated with lead (Pb) pollutants. The electrochemical prototype was developed using ten copper electrodes (five anodes and five cathodes) connected to a 30-volt Direct Current (DC) power supply. The study showed that the lead (Pb) concentration increased from 406.50 mg/kg on day 0 to 638.09 mg/kg on day 7. Electrical parameters (voltage, current, power) and temperature showed stability, but the average pH was in the acidic range, which correlated with increased Pb solubility. It was concluded that the electrochemical prototype designed for Pb-contaminated soil remediation experienced an increase in Pb pollutant concentration due to pH fluctuations and electrode corrosion.
