      Pemanfaatan Kunyit dan Ampas Tebu sebaga Adsorben pada Proses Daur Ulang Minyak Jelantah

      Abstract
      Penggunaan minyak berulang disebabkan karena adanya kenaikan harga pada minyak goreng. Minyak daur ulang berdampak negatif terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatan kunyit dan ampas tebu sebagai adsorben dalam proses daur ulang minyak jelantah. Penelitian ini meliputi preparasi adsorben, penerapan variasi adsorben ampas tebu dan kunyit untuk mendapatkan perbaikan kualitas minyak. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan metode perendaman adsorben selama 2x24 jam, kemudian minyak dianalisis warna, rasa, bau, kandungan asam lemak bebas, bilangan peroksida, dan kadar air berdasarkan SNI 7709:2019. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa seluruh perlakuan variasi massa memiliki efektivitas penurunan yang cukup. Hasil terbaik untuk penurunan asam lemak bebas dan bilangan peroksida terjadi pada perlakuan dengan komposisi adsorben 100% kunyit. Proses daur ulang ini menghasilkan efektivitas penurunan sebesar 50,75% pada asam lemak bebas dari 0,22±0,17% menjadi 0,11±0,06; penurunan bilangan peroksida sebesar 45,89% dari 14,95±4,08 mek O2/kg menjadi 8,09±1,43 mek O2/kg.
       
      The repeated use of cooking oil is often driven by rising oil prices. Recycled cooking oil poses negative impacts on both health and the environment. This study aims to explore the potential use of turmeric and sugarcane bagasse as adsorbents in the recycling process of used cooking oil. The research includes adsorbent preparation and the application of various combinations of turmeric and sugarcane bagasse to improve oil quality. The experiment was conducted using an immersion method for 48 hours, followed by analysis of oil color, taste, odor, free fatty acid content, peroxide value, and moisture content in accordance with SNI 7709:2019. The results showed that all treatment variations had a significant on reduction effect. The best performance in reducing free fatty acids and peroxide value was achieved with 100% turmeric adsorbent composition. This recycling process resulted in a 50.75% reduction in free fatty acid content from 0.22±0.17% to 0.11±0.06%, and a 45.89% decrease in peroxide value from 14.95±4.08 meq O2/kg to 8.09±1.43 meq O2/kg.
