      Abstract

Marigold was an ornamental plant with attractive shape, size, and color so that it had great potential for further development. Efforts to increase the genetic diversity of Sudamala Barak marigold were carried out through mutation induction used chemical mutagens oryzalin. This study aimed to determine the LC50 value and the effective concentration and soaking duration of oryzalin that can induce the diversity of Sudamala Barak marigolds. This study was conducted at the IPB Pasir Sarongge Experimental Garden from February–June 2025 using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The first factor was oryzalin concentration: 0 ppm (C0), 50 ppm (C1), 100 ppm (C2), 150 ppm (C3), and 200 ppm (C4). The second factor was the soaking time: 12 hours (T1) and 24 hours (T2). The LC50 value of Sudamala Barak marigold were 244,25 ppm (12 hours) and 167,95 ppm (24 hours). The concentration of 200 ppm gave the best results, significantly influencing leaf greenness, flowering time, flower diameter, and the number of flower petals. The soaking duration of 24 hours was found to be the most effective, particularly affecting leaf greenness and the number of petals.
