      Desain Proses Pengomposan Hasil Samping Ektraksi Minyak Bawang Merah PT XYZ Dengan Metode Windrow Composting

      Abstract
      The by-product of shallot oil extraction at PT XYZ is solid waste with high levels of fat and acidity that has not been utilized. This research aims to design a composting process and determine the optimal formulation to convert this waste into quality compost. Composting was carried out on 100 kg of main material with four formulation treatments varying the addition of chicken manure and the dosage of EM4 bioactivator. The process was monitored for thirteen days (iteration 1), with the corrective action of adding water on the thirteenth day after the initial phase was inhibited. Iteration 2 at forty days of composting. The results showed that Formulation A3 (without manure, standard EM4 dose) produced the most potential compost characterized by achieving the lowest final C/N ratio (24), including C-Organic (33%), pH (5.77), and safe heavy metal content. Although the total NPK nutrient content (1.3%) is still below standard, Formulation A3 has proven to be the most potential and cost efficient, producing an excellent product as a soil amendment.
       
      Hasil samping ekstraksi minyak bawang merah di PT XYZ merupakan limbah padat dengan kadar lemak dan keasaman tinggi yang belum termanfaatkan. Proyek ini bertujuan untuk merancang proses pengomposan dan menentukan formulasi optimal untuk mengubah limbah tersebut menjadi kompos berkualitas. Pengomposan dilakukan pada bahan utama hasil ekstraksi bawang merah sebanyak 100 kg dengan empat perlakuan formulasi yang memvariasikan penambahan pupuk kandang ayam dan dosis bioaktivator EM4. Proses dipantau selama tiga belas hari (iterasi 1), dengan tindakan korektif penambahan air pada hari ketiga belas setelah fase awal terhambat. Iterasi 2 pada empat puluh hari pengomposan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Formulasi A3 (tanpa pupuk kandang, dosis EM4 standar) menghasilkan kompos paling potensial ditandai dengan pencapaian rasio C/N akhir terendah (24), termasuk C-organik (33%), pH (5,77), dan kandungan logam berat yang aman. Meskipun kandungan hara NPK total (1,3%) masih di bawah standar, Formulasi A3 terbukti paling potensial dan efisien secara biaya, menghasilkan produk yang sangat baik sebagai pembenah tanah.
