      Abstract

Community radio functions as a medium to deliver information, education, and entertainment according to the needs of the community with participation as an important element. This study aims to analyze the relationship between participation and listener satisfaction of KARMILA FM Community Radio. The research used simple random sampling method with 50 respondents and qualitative data from observation and in-depth interviews. The results show that most listeners have a moderate level of participation, both in financing and broadcasting. The level of listener satisfaction is high, especially in the aspects of personal identity, social integration and interaction, and entertainment. The Spearman’s Rank correlation test shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between participation and satisfaction, although the strength is quite weak. In addition, age, occupation, and income level have a significant relationship with participation, while gender and education level are not related. The results of the study are expected to support the importance of participation-based community radio management strategies to increase community satisfaction.
