      Abstract

Sekonyer Village in Kotawaringin Barat Regency, Central Kalimantan, has high natural and cultural potential to be developed as an ecotourism destination based on local wisdom. This study used a mixed methods approach with questionnaires, observations, and interviews with 140 respondents consisting of community members, managers (Pokdarwis), and tourists. The results indicate that community participation and readiness are good, with positive views toward eco-tourism development, despite challenges in infrastructure, skills, and funding. Tourists show high interest in cultural activities such as river tours, dance performances, batimung, and handicrafts. Based on these findings, a three-day, two-night program called “Nyurung Sekonyer” was designed, combining nature, culture, and social interaction, along with promotional materials in the form of posters with QR codes. This program is expected to encourage community involvement, strengthen cultural identity, and support environmental conservation.
