      Abstract

The accumulation of rice husk charcoal waste at SPP BULOG Magetan posed significant environmental issues due to suboptimal utilization. This study aimed to identify waste problems, extract silica from rice husk ash, and evaluate the quality of silica products through characterization. The methods involved sampling rice husk ash, a combustion process to obtain ash, silica extraction using alkaline solvents, and product characterization using FTIR and XRF. Results indicated that the combustion temperature used at SPP BULOG Magetan produced charcoal with ash content, moisture, fixed carbon, and volatile matter was not optimal, suggesting the need for higher combustion temperatures to yield quality ash. Silica extraction yielded a high-purity product (SiO2 98.69%), demonstrating the potential of rice husk ash as a source of high-quality amorphous silica for industrial applications. This study concluded that optimizing combustion temperature and extraction processes could enhance waste value and reduce environmental impact. These findings provided a scientific basis for the sustainable development of agricultural waste utilization.
