      Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of inulin-based synbiotics and Bifidobacterium bifidum on sheep performance and digestibility. This study used 8 thin-tailed sheep, with an average body weight of 16.07 ± 3.21 kg. The study used two treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of P0 (field grass + concentrate) as a control and P1 (P0 + 3 mL synbiotic). The observed variables were nutrient consumption, nutrient digestibility, daily body weight gain, and feed efficiency. Data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test using SPSS software. The results showed that the provision of synbiotics had no significant effect (P>0.05) on nutrient consumption of BK, PK, LK, SK, BETN, digestibility of BK, PK, LK, BETN, TDN, and ADG, but tended to decrease (P=0.09) SK digestibility and increase (P=0.07) feed efficiency. Synbiotic has the potency to support nutrient utilization efficiency indirectly.
