      Abstract

Peatland rehabilitation faces challenges, including difficult accessibility, high acidity levels, low soil fertility, and limited adaptive plant species. One potential rehabilitation effort is revegetation using adaptive species such as gelam (Melaleuca cajuputi Powell) and the application of palm oil waste fertilizer (PLKS). Gelam is an economically valuable peatland adaptive plant. This study aims to produce PLKS and analyze the effect of PLKS and planting techniques on gelam growth in peatland. The study used a completely randomized factorial design with two factors, namely the type of PLKS (with carbon activation, without carbon activation, lignocellulose, crystalline cellulose) at four concentrations (1%, 3%, 5%, 7%) and two planting techniques (direct seeding and seedball) with four replications. The results showed that PLKS significantly affected the height and number of gelam leaves, while planting techniques significantly affected all growth parameters. The interaction between the two significantly affected plant height. The direct sowing technique produces the best growth in all growth parameters. PLKS-NT 5% with direct planting provides the best growth results for gelam on peat land.
