      Rancangan Teknologi Proses Produksi Silika Bubuk dari Limbah Abu Sekam Padi di SPP BULOG Subang

      Abstract
      Sentra Penggilingan Padi (SPP) BULOG Subang menghadapi masalah penumpukan limbah abu sekam padi di area pabrik. Limbah abu sekam padi memiliki kandungan silika (SiO2) yang tinggi sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai material konstruksi, adsorben, dan diekstraksi menjadi silika bubuk. Berdasarkan pemilihan alternatif solusi, limbah tersebut akan dimanfaatkan menjadi silika bubuk melalui perancangan pabrik. Rancangan teknologi proses produksi diperlukan untuk menentukan alur dan tahapan pengolahan abu sekam padi menjadi silika bubuk secara sistematis dan efisien yang layak secara teknis. Jenis proses yang digunakan adalah proses basah dengan presipitasi, yaitu asidifikasi natrium silikat dari abu sekam padi dengan prekursor asam pada pH yang netral untuk menghasilkan silika bubuk. Hasil pengujian skala laboratorium dari proses yang terpilih menghasilkan kemurnian produk sebesar 98% dengan konversi reaksi 1 dan 2 sebesar 83% dan 99%. Rancangan proses ditingkatkan skalanya menjadi skala pabrik dengan kapasitas produksi sebesar 850 ton per tahun, menggunakan sistem produksi kontinu. Dilakukan simulasi proses pada ASPEN Plus, menghasilkan rendemen produk sebesar 59% dari bahan baku. Proses produksi meliputi pembakaran, reaksi dengan NaOH, pemisahan, reaksi dengan H2SO4, filtrasi, pengeringan, penghalusan, dan pengayakan. Ditentukan juga spesifikasi teknis setiap peralatan dan mesin berdasarkan karakteristik proses.
       
      Modern Rice Milling Plant (MRMP) BULOG Subang faces an issue of accumulating rice husk ash waste within the plant area. Rice husk ash contains a high amount of silica (SiO2), making it a valuable resource for use as a construction material, adsorbent, or for extraction into silica powder. Based on the selection of alternative solutions, the waste will be utilized to produce silica powder through a plant design. A process technology design is required to determine the systematic and efficient process flow and stages for converting rice husk ash into silica powder in a technically feasible manner. The chosen method is a wet process involving precipitation, where sodium silicate derived from rice husk ash is acidified using an acid precursor at a neutral pH to produce silica powder. Laboratory-scale tests of the selected process yielded a product purity of 98%, with reaction conversions of 83% and 99% for the first and second stages, respectively. The process design was then scaled up to industrial scale with a production capacity of 850 tons per year, employing a continuous production system. Process simulation conducted using ASPEN Plus resulted in a product yield of 59% from the raw material. The production process includes combustion, reaction with NaOH, separation, reaction with H2SO4, filtration, drying, milling, and sieving. The technical specifications of each piece of equipment and machinery were also determined based on the characteristics of the process.
