Since the COVID-19 pendemic, ornamental foliage enthusiasts in Indonesia have increased due to their high economic value, one of wich is Alocasia. Alocaia (Araceae) is popular for its attractive leaf color and shape. Kalimantan has accommodated at least 50 Alocasia species, most of them are endemic. Differences in characteristic between species can be seen by examining leaf anatomy because each species has specific characteristics that are owned as characteristics or distinguishes it from other species. For ornamental foliage commercialization, its is important to correctly identify the species and to study its growth and development. This study aims to determine the differences in growth, leaf anatomy, calcium oxalate content and wax layers in the leaves of two Alocasia species from Kalimantan. The study was conducted in the greenhouse of the Leuwikopo Experimental Station, IPB Dramaga. The design used was a completely randomized design single factor of Alocasia species, consists of Alocasia baginda and Alocasia melo. The result showed that Alocasia melo had thicker leaf, more stomata, chlorophyll a, and calcium oxalate content. In contrast, Alocasia baginda has higher amount of chlorophyll b, anthocyanin, and wax layers. Vegetative growth including the number of leaves, petiole length, leaf length, and leaf opening rate in Alocasia baginda was significantly higher compared to Alocasia melo.
