      Konduktivitas Hidrolik Pembuluh Xilem Batang dan Ranting Tanaman Hopea sangal (Dipterocarpaceae) pada Ketersediaan Air yang Berbeda

      Abstract
      Hopea sangal (Dipterocarpaceae) merupakan spesies yang terancam punah. H. sangal ditemukan di Pasuruan tahun 2014 terdapat di area lahan basah. Kemampuan tumbuhan mentranspor air dari akar ke tajuk melalui xilem dapat diukur dengan konduktivitas hidrolik (Kp) pembuluh xilem, terutama melalui organ batang dan ranting. Studi untuk mengetahui respon spesies H. sangal pada cekaman ketersediaan air, khususnya kaitan dengan konduktivitas hidrolik pembuluh xilem sangat penting dilakukan untuk kesintasan spesies tersebut lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis konduktivitas hidrolik pembuluh xilem batang dan ranting bibit tanaman H. sangal pada ketersediaan air yang berbeda, yaitu genangan dan kering. Penghitungan Kp dilakukan berdasarkan gambar anatomi batang dan ranting yang diolah sehingga memperoleh citra hitam putih, serta menghitung luas dan jumlah pembuluh xilem. Tanaman H. sangal pada genangan memiliki nilai Kp yang cenderung tinggi pada perlakuan kontrol/tanpa genangan (3,86 ± 1,07 kg m-1 MPa-1 s-1). Kp pada kekeringan memiliki nilai yang cenderung tinggi pada perlakuan 6 hari periode kering (5,49 ± 2,93 kg m-1 MPa-1 s-1). Kp pada batang dan ranting H. sangal yang kekeringan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan genangan. Nilai Kp berkorelasi positif dengan luas area xilem dan jumlah pembuluh xilem pada cekaman genangan dan kering.
       
      Hopea sangal (Dipterocarpaceae) is an endangered species. In 2014, H. sangal was discovered in a wetland area in Pasuruan. The ability of a plant to transport water from the roots to the shoots via xylem can be assessed through the hydraulic conductivity (Kp) of xylem vessels, particularly in stem and twig organs. A study investigating the response of H. sangal to water availability stress, particularly concerning xylem vessel hydraulic conductivity, is crucial for its conservation. This research aims to analyze the hydraulic conductivity of stem and twig xylem vessels in H. sangal seedlings under different water availability conditions: waterlogging and drought. Kp was determined using anatomical images of stem and twig cross-sections, and processed into black-and-white images to calculate xylem vessel area and number. Under waterlogged conditions, H. sangal exhibited relatively high Kp values in the control treatment (3.86 ± 1.07 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹). Under drought conditions, the highest Kp value was observed in the 6-day dry treatment (5.49 ± 2.93 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹). Overall, Kp values in stems and twigs under drought conditions were higher than those under waterlogging. Kp showed a positive correlation with xylem vessel area and number under both drought and waterlogged stress conditions.
