      Abstract

Live fish transportation is a critical stage in aquaculture due to its direct impact on stress levels and fish survival. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava) addition in a closed transport system on water quality, stress response, growth, survival rate of comet fish (Carassius auratus), and its economic implications. The experiment used a completely randomized design with four treatments: no extract (K), extract addition 0,1% (JB1), extract addition 0,2% (JB2), and extract addition 0,3% (JB3), each with three replications. The transportation was carried out for a duration of 48 hours with a stocking density of eight comet fish per packing unit. Results showed that JB1 treatment produced the best outcomes, achieving 100% survival rate, low blood glucose levels post transport, optimal water quality, and the highest economic return. The addition of guava leaf extract helped reduce fish stress and maintain stable water conditions during transport. This natural additive offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution to improve the efficiency of ornamental fish transportation.
