| dc.description.abstract | The Cilacap Fishing Port requires comprehensive ecological data on handline fishing catches to support sustainable fisheries management. This study aims to describe the condition and structure of the handline fishing units, calculate catch productivity and species diversity, determine the percentage of fish caught at legal size, and analyze the trophic level composition of the catch. Data processing employed with descriptive statistics, CPUE, diversity, and trophic level evaluation. Handline fishing units at PPS Cilacap total 490, used by vessels of 21-30 GT with one skipper and 17 crew members, operating for 28–120 days. The handline length is 5-40 m. Most fishers come from Pemalang, and operate in the southern waters of Java. The highest productivity occurred in 2018, reaching 18.865,4 kg/trip, with a diversity index of H' = 2.93. The percentage of legal-sized fish was 73.97% for skipjack tuna, 99.02% for yellowfin tuna, and 64.84% for dolphinfish. High-trophic-level fish dominated the catch. Regular monitoring at PPS Cilacap is needed to ensure the sustainability of the marine ecosystem. | |
