      Abstract

Hypertension is a state of elevated blood pressure that carries a high risk of heart disease, stroke, or even death. Blood pressure is influenced by many factors such as consumption patterns, body composition, and lifestyle. This study aims to analyze the relationship between consumption of vegetables, fruits, and sleep duration with blood pressure in adult men. This study used a cross sectional study design and involved 73 adult men in Sukajadi Village. The vegetable and fruit consumption patterns of the subjects were low. Body fat percentage and blood HDL levels were low, but had high cholesterol and LDL levels, and normal triglycerides. Majority had normal body water percentage. Most of the subjects had normal sleep duration. The majority of subjects had excessive levels of vitamin A (83.6%) and selenium (80.8%) intake, but deficient levels of vitamin C (89.0%), vitamin E (100%), zinc (72.6%), magnesium (90.4%), and omega-3 (98.6%) intake and caffeine consumption (100%) within safe limits. The results of this study showed a significant positive correlation (p<0.05) between the amount of daily processed vegetable consumption and systolic blood pressure (r=0.240, p=0.040), and between sleep duration and diastolic blood pressure (r=0.231, p=0.050).
