dc.description.abstractKemunculan ponsel pintar dengan fitur modern mempermudah aktivitas mahasiswa generasi Z yang lekat dengan teknologi, namun juga memicu perilaku phubbing, yaitu mengabaikan interaksi sosial karena fokus pada ponsel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan dan pengaruh kontrol diri, fear of missing out (FoMO) terhadap perilaku phubbing pada mahasiswa generasi Z. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan voluntary sampling, penelitian ini melibatkan 240 mahasiswa generasi Z di Jawa Barat dalam rentang usia 18-24 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden memiliki tingkat kontrol diri, FoMO, dan phubbing dalam kategori sedang. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan bahwa usia mahasiswa berhubungan positif dengan phubbing, durasi penggunaan ponsel berhubungan negatif dengan kontrol diri, durasi penggunaan ponsel berhubungan positif dengan FoMO dan phubbing, dan pendapatan keluarga berhubungan positif dengan phubbing. Kontrol diri berhubungan negatif dengan FoMO dan phubbing, sementara FoMO berhubungan positif dengan phubbing. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan kontrol diri berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap perilaku phubbing.
dc.description.abstractThe emergence of modern-featured smartphones has facilitated the activities of Generation Z students also triggered the behavior of phubbing, which is the neglect of social interaction due to a greater focus on mobile phones. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship and influence of self-control and fear of missing out (FoMO) on phubbing behavior among Generation Z college students. Utilizing a quantitative approach with voluntary sampling, the research involved 240 Generation Z students in West Java, aged 18-24. The findings of the study indicate that the majority of the respondents possess a moderate level of self-control, FoMO, and phubbing. The correlation analysis results indicate that the age of students is positively associated with phubbing, the duration of smartphone usage is negatively associated with self-control, the duration of smartphone usage is positively associated with FoMO and phubbing, and family income is positively associated with phubbing. It was discovered that self-control is negatively related to FoMO and phubbing, whereas FoMO is positively related to phubbing. The regression analysis results indicate that self-control has a significant negative impact on phubbing behavior.
