      Abstract

Captive breeding is one of the keys for preserving this species. This research aims to identify daily behavioral and spatial use of barking deer at captive breeding of IPB Campus Dramaga, Bogor, West Java. Data collection was carried out from October until November 2024. Preliminary research was conducted for 5 days to provide ethogram and identify each individual of barking deer. Data collection method used for daily behavior is focal animal sampling with continuous recording method from 06.00 to 18.00. Observations were made on 6 barking deer for 20 hours per individual. There are twelve categories of behaviour with the most common daily behaviour are ingestive and relaxed state. Sub-adult male that kept in a separate enclosure used zone C more frequently, meanwhile the other five barking deers spend more time in zone A that has a feeding area.
