      Abstract

IPB D2 chicken is a potential new strain resulting from the selection of IPB D1 chicken, aiming to produce local chickens with fast growth. Local chickens exhibit different behavior that can lead to injuries. This study aimed to analyze and examined the effect of different sexes on injuries in IPB D2 chickens, including foot pad dermatitis, hock burn, and breast blister, as well as their production performance. This study consisted of two treatments: P1: Male and P2: Female. Each treatment had three replications, with six IPB D2 chickens per replication. The experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD), and the data were analyzed using Tukey's pairwise comparisons. The results showed that the incidence of foot pad dermatitis in IPB D2 chickens tended to increase with age and was milder in hens. Hock burn and breast blister were not found. Male chickens consistently had higher production performance than female chickens each week.
