| dc.description.abstract | Coral reef ecosystems are among the most vulnerable coastal systems,
frequently affected by both natural and anthropogenic pressures. This study aims
to examine and compare the composition of benthic communities, growth forms
(lifeforms), and the dominant coral genera between Sebesi and Sebuku Islands,
Lampung. Field surveys were conducted from 7-14 September 2021, at seven
observation stations located around both islands. The Point Intercept Transect
(PIT) method was used to collect benthic data. Results show that Sebuku Island was
dominated by hard coral cover (41.25 ± 3.24%), while Sebesi Island was dominated
by abiotic substrates (65.78 ± 6.22%). The dominant coral growth forms in Sebuku
were branching and foliose, whereas Acropora coral branching was predominant
in Sebesi. Porites was the dominant coral genus in Sebuku, while Acropora was
most abundant in Sebesi. These differences in coral community structure reflect
variations in anthropogenic pressure and local environmental conditions at each
site. | |
