      Abstract

Labor productivity is a key indicator in assessing the efficiency and competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. However, agricultural labor productivity still shows regional disparities and remains suboptimal in supporting food security and farmer welfare. This study aims to describe the condition of labor productivity in Indonesia's agricultural sector and analyze the factors influencing it. The method used for the first objective is descriptive analysis, while panel data regression is applied for the second objective. The results show that agricultural labor productivity in Indonesia has exhibited an increasing trend during the 2015–2023 period, however, however, these improvements have not been uniformly realized across provinces. The variables of farmers’ education, farmers’ age, agricultural credit, farmers’ terms of trade, and domestic investment have a positive and significant effect on agricultural labor productivity. Meanwhile, the number of agricultural machines and foreign direct investment have a negative but insignificant effect. The Covid-19 dummy variable shows a positive yet insignificant effect.
