      Abstract

One of the most common types of waste generated by palm oil mills is Empty Palm Oil Bunches. The large amount of empty palm oil bunches in the company shows the urgency to do further processing. The purpose of this research is to make biochar made from empty palm oil bunches using Kiln Drum Modification. The research method began with the manufacture of a pyrolysis pyrovate device using the Kiln Drum Modification method and conducting a proximate test on the biochar produced. In this study, there were three variations of pyrolysis temperature used (300oC, 400oC, and 500oC). The results showed that biochar had gone through the drying process with a 105oC oven had a moisture content and volatile substance content that met the requirements, and the ash content did not meet the quality standards of SNI 1683:2021.
