      Abstract

The agricultural sector plays a strategic role in the Indonesian economy as a labor absorber and a pillar of food security, but its contribution to GDP is stagnant and its productivity lags behind. This study uses panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model to analyze the factors that influence agricultural employment in 34 provinces during 2016-2023. The variables studied include GRDP, real wages, investment, per capital expenditure, and land area. The results show GRDP, non agricultural real wages, and land area have a positive effect, while per capita expenditure, domestic investment, and agricultural real wages have a negative effect. Foreign investment is not significant. Productivity disparities between provinces are influenced by access to technology and the quality of human resources, so it is necessary to strengthen infrastructure, adopt technology, and increase labor capacity for efficiency and sustainability of this sector.
