      Abstract

Hoof diseases in breeding bulls can negatively impact productivity and reproductive performance, especially in artificial insemination programs. This study was conducted to identify various types of hoof diseases commonly found in breeding bulls, calculate the prevalence of hoof disease cases, and analyze the relationship between hoof disease incidence and body condition score (BCS) in breeding bulls at BIB Lembang. The method used was physical examination. Based on statistical analysis using the multinomial logistic regression method, 37 out of a total of 271 bulls were diagnosed with hoof disease during August–September 2024, accounting for 13.65%. Laminitis was identified as the most common disease, followed by sole ulcer and white line disease. The results showed that BCS did not have a significant correlation with the incidence of hoof disease. Hoof diseases may be influenced by several factors, such as poor housing hygiene and sanitation, excessive concentrate feeding, overly short chopped forage, improper bedding, hard and dirty flooring, and injuries caused by sharp objects.
