Seagrass ecosystems are complex and essential coastal systems that offer significant ecological and economic benefits. The community of Kepala Madan District lives alongside these coastal ecosystems and experiences the benefits provided by seagrass habitats. An evaluation of the seagrass ecosystem’s contribution to community well-being is necessary. This study aims to analyze the condition and status of seagrass and to estimate its contribution as an ecosystem service to the quality of life of communities in Kepala Madan District, South Buru Regency, Maluku. Ecological data were obtained using the Seagrass-Watch method, while interview data were analyzed using the Nature’s Contributions to People (NCP) framework developed by IPBES. The results show that the seagrass ecosystem is in poor condition, and its benefits have not been fully realized by the community. This study recommends increasing human resource knowledge about the importance and contributions of seagrass ecosystems so that they can be utilized effectively to support economic development and promote conservation efforts.
