dc.description.abstractKucing merupakan hewan peliharaan yang rentan terhadap berbagai infeksi, termasuk infeksi bakteri nosokomial seperti Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae). Sebanyak 29 sampel diambil dari 22 ekor kucing dan 17 isolat teridentifikasi sebagai bakteri Gram-negatif berbentuk batang. Hasil uji biokimia menunjukkan bahwa empat isolat (1B, 6, 14, 22A) terkonfirmasi sebagai K. pneumoniae dan selanjutnya dikonfirmasi melalui amplifikasi gen rpoB menggunakan metode PCR. Fragmen gen rpoB sepanjang 1.090 bp memungkinkan identifikasi akurat pada tingkat spesies. Dua isolat berasal dari kucing yang diduga terinfeksi Feline Herpesvirus (FHV), sementara dua lainnya ditemukan pada kucing sehat. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa K. pneumoniae dapat menjadi bagian dari mikrobiota normal sekaligus bertindak sebagai patogen oportunistik. Keberadaan bakteri ini mengindikasikan potensi penyebaran resistansi antibiotik. Oleh karena itu, pengawasan terhadap hewan peliharaan serta penerapan metode molekuler seperti PCR menjadi langkah penting dalam upaya mitigasi risiko kesehatan pada manusia dan hewan.
dc.description.abstractCats are domestic animals that are susceptible to various infections, including nosocomial bacterial infections such as Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae). A total of 29 samples were collected from 22 cats, and 17 isolates were identified as Gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria. Biochemical tests confirmed that four isolates (1B, 6, 14, 22A) were identified as K. pneumoniae, which was further supported by amplification of the rpoB gene using the PCR method. The rpoB gene fragment, measuring 1.090 bp, enabled accurate identification at the species level. Two isolates were obtained from cats suspected of Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) infection, while the other two were found in healthy cats. These findings confirm that K. pneumoniae can be part of the normal microbiota as well act as an opportunistic pathogen. Moreover, the presence of this bacterium indicates its potential for transmission of antibiotic resistance. Accordingly, the surveillance of companion animals, along with the implementation of molecular approaches such as PCR, constitutes a critical strategy in mitigating health risks to both humans and animals.
