      Abstract

Abrasion is an injury that occurs due to friction between the skin and a rough surface, so that it affects the skin layer to the dermis. Wound treatment using laser therapy and topical ointment. The purpose of this study was to examine the use of laser therapy combined with topical ointment in the healing process of abrasion wounds that occur in Friesian horses at the Ditpolsatwa. The use of laser therapy and topical ointment on horses is used to accelerate wound healing. This study was conducted from August 5 to November 5, 2024 at the Ditpolsatwa Depok. The study was conducted by observing Friesian horses that had abrasion wounds between the coronet and pastern on the right hind leg. Observations were carried out every 2 or 3 days during the period from September 29 to November 3, 2024. The results of the study on wound treatment using laser therapy combined with topical ointment, namely Ilium Dermapred®, proved effective in helping to heal abrasion wounds experienced by Friesian horses in 36 days. The abrasion wound area from the dermis layer healed to the epidermis layer and looked normal and shrunk.
