      Abstract
DAFI FADJAR HIDAYAT.

DAFI FADJAR HIDAYAT. Utilization of Cow Fat Waste (Tallow) for Soap Making with the Addition of Eco-Enzyme. Supervised by SARI PUTRI DEWI. Tallow is a by-product of animal slaughtering that is still not optimally utilized. The content of fatty acids and vitamins in it has the potential to be used as a soap base. This study aims to utilize tallow as a soap raw material with the addition of eco-enzyme to improve the functional quality of soap. This study used treatments namely P0 = without eco-enzyme, P1 = eco-enzyme 90%, P2 eco-enzyme 95% and P3 eco-enzyme 100%. Product evaluation was carried out through hedonic tests which included texture, aroma sensation on the skin and foam, pH test, unsaponifiable fat, and antimicrobial test. The results showed that soap with 100% eco-enzyme had the most favorable aroma and skin sensation by panelists, as well as the highest antibacterial power against Staphylococcus aureus. All products produced a high pH, which means they are alkaline, so they are effective in removing dirt and cleaning the skin. Thus, tallow-based soap and eco-enzyme have the potential as functional soap products.
