      Abstract

Wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) is an important bird species in forest ecosystems as a seed disperser, but its population in Java is increasingly threatened due to deforestation, habitat fragmentation, and pressure from human activities. This study aims to map the habitat suitability of the wreathed hornbill and identify environmental variable that influence its distribution using the Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) model. The analysis was based on 137 encounter points and a number of environmental variables such as elevation, slope, land cover, distance from river, food trees, and habitat fragmentation index. The model showed a high level of accuracy with an AUC of 0.846. Modeling results showed that 4,291.6 km² was categorized as highly suiabel, 7,916.1 km² as suitable and 20,839.4 km² as moderately suitainable for wreathed hornbill habitat. The most influential factors in the model were class area, mean patch size, elevation, slope, and distance from forest. Keywords: habitat suitability, maxent, modeling, wreathed hornbill
