      Abstract

Tanjungpandan as the capital of Belitung Regency, is experiencing changes in environmental quality and a lack of green open space. The aims of this study are to determine priority locations for urban forest development and to analyze the shapes and types of urban forest suitable for Tanjungpandan. The prioritization process employs Geographic Information Systems using variables such as land cover, land surface temperature, forest canopy density, land slope, and planning patterns. The results show that the priority locations for urban forest development are located in Perawas and Buluh Tumbang villages (78.06 ha), Juru Seberang village (35.53 ha), and Parit village (0.8 ha). The development of urban forests located in conservation areas in Perawas and Buluh Tumbang Villages cannot be carried out due to conflicts with the designation of the area as a taman hutan raya, but this can be taken into consideration for restoration activities. The type and shape of urban forest that can be developed in Juru Seberang Village is the recreation and protection type and spread out shape, while in Kelurahan Parit it is the recreation type and clustered shape.
