      Abstract

Scad fish (Decapterus sp.) was one of the economically valuable small pelagic fish commodities with high potential in Indonesian waters. The exploitation level of small pelagic fish in WPPNRI 573 had reached the fully exploited status, thus the need for controlling exploitation and intensive monitoring of oceanographic parameters related to fish resources. This study aims to evaluate the distribution of scad fish based on the suitability of oceanographic parameters in the Indonesia Fisheries Management Area (WPPNRI) 573. The analysis was conducted using satellite imagery parameters of sea surface temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a, salinity, and bathymetry, which were processed using a spatial modeling method. The results showed that SST ranged from 21,3–33,8 ?, chlorophyll-a (0,03–3,62?mg/m?^3), salinity (31,1–35,3 PSU), and bathymetry (0–7.233 m). The existing data showed that the highest number of fishing spots occurred during the west monsoon and the second transition season, while the highest distribution of scad presence occurred during the west monsoon and the first transition season. The differences between these data indicated that the determination of fishing grounds and time was influenced by both environmental and non-environmental factors of the oceanography.
