      Abstract

Corncob is an agricultural byproduct rich in bioactive compounds, such as phenolics and flavonoids. This study evaluates the phytochemical composition, antioxidant activity, tyrosinase enzyme inhibition, and antibacterial properties of 70% ethanol corncob extract as an active ingredient in facial serum. Extraction was conducted using maceration with 70% ethanol, followed by phytochemical screening, TBARS antioxidant assay, tyrosinase inhibition test, and antibacterial assay against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes using the disk diffusion method. The extract contained flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, terpenoids, alkaloids, quinones, glycosides, and saponins. Antioxidant analysis showed 81.8% MDA inhibition at 200 ppm, higher than vitamin E (75,96%). Tyrosinase inhibition resulted in an IC50 of 26.310 ppm, classifying it as a weak inhibitor. In conclusion, the 70% ethanol corncob extract making it a potential active ingredient in natural facial serum formulations.
